I put professional artist because in most ways I consider myself one. I am 33 and have been doing and studying art all my life. Yet at the same time, I feel as artist, we are forever the student. We can spend a lifetime learning, growing, and soaking everything in and still not know all there is to know. You can always grow as an artist. Never stop studying. As an artist, when you stop studying you have either gave up on your craft or are no longer on this planet.
I am a mother of 4 wonderful (and talented!) daughters. I am married (13years as of May 2012). Yes, I am only 33. I married young and had all of my girls within a 5 year period.
I have my associates degree and am in the middle of pursing my bachelors in Art Education. I went for one semester to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I loved it. Due to financials I had to come back home though. I now attend The Academy of Art University of San Fransisco. Eventually, I will be done with school... Maybe.
My goals are just to create, create, create. And to spread the knowledge. Supporting my family with it is, of course, a bonus.
I love using the figure in my work. I create some extremely emotional pieces in a very imaginative realistic way. Then I have some that are merely illustration works. I want to do everything from showing in galleries, selling online, to children's illustrations. I go from serious to fun quickly. Just depends on my mood. My children, music, life, literature, people all inspire me.
Some personal nonsense:
Lilac is my favorite sent.
I don't believe in favorite colors. They change too often with my mood and times of the year. Right now it's variations of orange.
I am also extremely obsessed with books, the smell of the bookstore and the art supply store, and coffee. It's one of my food groups.
